Ruins Guide

Ruins basics for Lil Stars :

When it comes to doing ruins, it's better to stick to pursuer-victim strategy while playing on lower lvls. Certain units go after each other and hit twice as hard:

  • Cavalry takes down Warriors
  • Birds take down Cavalry
  • Archers take down Birds
  • Warriors take down Archers

Following these rules, you'll have a smaller chance of troops loss and need less troops for ruins even on tough terrains, which is very important as level rating limits are quite small (for the very same reason it's better to leave most troops rewards unclaimed till you are ready to go Suzerain).

You will also need:
  • carriers - to take the main hit, and bring all resources home;
  • healers - to resurrect fallen units (note that light elves need less healers than other races, because their healers resurrect more units)

There are 4 native terrains (magic forest for light elves, holyland for knights, deadland for demons, and cursed forest for dark elves), and 4 neutral (forest, steppe, mountains and desert).
Native terrain gives your troops +25 defense by default. Each neutral terrain applies attack boost or penalty to certain units. This is how we figure if terrain is 'tough' or 'easy'.

Troops Suggestions :

(for detailed information on every ruin troops setup, visit links below)

Pls keep in mind that suggested troops amounts are based on:
  • the toughest possible terrain
  • medium ruins strength
  • no hero
  • no clan standards
Reduce/adjust amount for weak ruins, easy terrains or when using hero (you'll most likely able to do multiple weak ruins at the same time with hero ). Be reasonable with healers, they add the most rating points (10 lvl 3 healers will cost over 5.5 mln points, 10 lvl 4 healers – over 6 mln).

Small carriers loss is acceptable, if you are losing main units – something is wrong with troops proportions!

Extra Tips for 1-4 stars players :

  • As your hero gets stronger and troops level up, gradually reduce amount of units to free more rating points for cities upgrades. For the very same reason consider getting rid of units you don't need atm.
  • Always calculate if you'd like to give tough/overgrown ruin a try, don't go without hero that can provide additional boost.
  • Don't postpone troops upgrades, or it will be hard to gather enough slaves. Quite a few troops require up to 10 slaves per unit in order to upgrade (100 units will cost you only 1K slaves, while 1K will cost 10K slaves. It's better to upgrade to lvl 3 asap)
  • Do not train many mercenaries (some for seizures and flags only). Balance your army and hire a proper hero instead, and there will be no need to soften ruins with mercenaries and involve yourself into constant re-training ever.
  • Avoid training mages on low lvls, unless you are dark elf with mage hero and mage boosting art, it's a waste of rating points.
  • Keep in mind that it's better to have a few lvl 2-3 military buildings than one lvl 7, leave expensive building upgrades for higher lvls, or you'll be stuck with no rating points left for army.
  • Make sure to take advantage of every level to learn basics, train hero, stock up on BG, artifacts, and prepare for Suzerain properly.
